Question:   What is the meaning of life?  Whats this life for.  Why are we alive?

Answer:

Elizabeth,

Good questions! I believe each of us is created by God in a unique way for a unique reason. We all have a special role to play in God's plan of salvation. Let me repeat: We ALL have a special role, mission, purpose, calling. It isn't just priests and nuns that have a calling. Everyone does.

We all have a general call to love God and love our neighbor. We follow this call in many ways. One example would be by our active participation in Sunday worship.

Discovering your particular role or calling, why YOU are alive, is a process that happens through liturgy, prayer, faithfulness, openness, service, and many other virtues, through the people God brings into our lives, and through living life. Whatever your calling is, it will have something to do with love. God is love. Love gives meaning to our lives. The more we can develop our love relationship with God and our love relationships with others, the more significance our lives will seem to take on.

Blessings,
Father Robert
