Question: I was raised Catholic. My husband and I were married in the Catholic Church, and are both active in The Church, to which we are members. My husband is not Catholic, but is a catecumen, and hopes to be one soon. We were asked to take the offertory up during mass, and some people made a fuss because he is not catholic, yet. Was it wrong for him to accept this privilege?
Answer:
Thanks for writing! I am sorry some folks had a problem with your husband bringing the offertory up. Not a very welcoming attitude to someone who is in the process of becoming Catholic! No, it was not wrong for him to accept. Non-Catholics may bring up the gifts.
